#4: Agents & Managers

ruthJULIA GROB Julia Ahumada Grob is co-creator of “East WIllyB”, an original web series that provides a glimpse into the life of an urban American Latino community. Part comedy, part drama, “East WillyB” follows the story of proud bar owner Willie Jr. as he fights to keep his bar alive in the face of the hipster invasion of his neighborhood. Shot in Brooklyn, where the series is set, Ms. Grob not only produces “East WillyB,” but also stars in it in the role of Ceci Rivera. In addition to her success in the web series world, Ms.Grob’s one-woman show HE(R)EVOLUTION toured nationally and internationally, including performances at the 2007 JP Morgan Latino Cultural Festival (NY) and the 2007 Salvador Allende Festival For Peace (Toronto).

Her interactive video “The Beat Back Bush Workout” won the coveted Crowd Pleaser Award at the 2005 New York Hip-Hop Odyssey Film Festival, and Julia has been featured as an emerging artist in Latina Magazine. Her writing has been published in the Oxford Encyclopedia of Latinos and Latinas in the U.S. and We Got Issues! A Young Woman’s Guide to a Bold, Courageous, and Empowered Life.

Named one of 25 emerging theater artists by Kevin Spacey, Julia is a proud member of the New Voices Network, and a founding member of At Play Productions. Julia is committed to making a difference in many ways -- she also sits on the board of Action for Health in the Americas, a foundation which supports the development of sustainable, community-based initiatives promoting justice and health among economically marginalized communities in Latin America. She is a 2011 Fellow of the National Association of Latino Independent Producers (NALIP) Latino Producers Academy and Latino Artist Mentoring Program.
